The Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 protects wildlife in India. Domestic animals like cats, dogs, horses, donkeys etc. Are protected under the Prevention of Animals to Cruelty Act, 1962 and the punishment there has been stated 1 or 2 months of imprisonment.
